Alive or Dead?

Has the desert changed you? Were you dead all along? Using contests against a modified doom pool you’ll play to find out what happens as you cross the Midnight Desert.  When you succeed you’ll draw cards on the hunt for a winning poker hand. When you lose or give in new details will be revealed to expand the narrative. So to will the Midnight Desert, hereafter the MD, draw cards and build their hand. The final hand will determine  your final  fate.

Built for the breathless game jam, Derailed is a one-shot play through with strong replayabilty.  Each playthrough new hands will emerge to shape the desert.  The only way to find out if you become its next denizen or you reach your destination is to try your luck. 

Presented in 2 formats, the original pamphlet condensed breathless variety and a second longer version which draws on the Cortex Prime engine to pull in some more strategic options with Plot Points and dice pool building.
